The Crush

She flitted across my line of vision like a butterfly high on nectar and my eyes followed her. Her movements, though urgent, were graceful and she soon had me transfixed with her dance.

The devil riding on me won and I willed my straining heart to join her dance. As I looked on and followed on her wake, she almost bumped into some bodies and caused a few voices to rise in anger. But she passed by them uncaring, as fast as she had come by. Another day, I would have commented at the lack of basic courtesies in such a fine young lady. But not today. As I said, I was transfixed.

Soon she found herself caught in the midst of a slow pack and I found myself alongside her. I did not know if she had noticed me earlier when she passed me, but this time she seemed to. She flashed the silent smile that the “I know I am being ogled at and I love it” types seem to possess, at me and I knew immediately that she was reading my thoughts.

And even before I realized that I had a voice – well, the one that you humans can’t hear, she was off again, screaming in delight in a manner that reminded me of Thelma and Louise. She left me staring ruefully at her tail lights flashing against the backdrop of the rising moon, as she sneaked through gaps that a old minivan like me would not even dream about getting into. So much for romance.

x-x-x-x-x

I was riding shotgun on the front passenger side of a Honda Accord (yesssss, I know it's not a minivan) sometime last Sunday when I observed a Acura RSX weaving its way across lanes trying to beat us all on the ultra busy I-95 South. Watching it move while almost asleep after a heavy lunch and with U talking to his cousin on the phone, I had a creative rush of blood, the likes of which I have never experienced before. I wrote most of this post right then. I don't know how good it is, but I think I did ok for a first time writer of such things as minivans having crushes on sports coupes. Needless to say, some of this story is autobiographical and the Acura RSX does find a place on my list of must own cars. But I will leave that list for another day!

Hey,

First time on your blog. Pretty neat.

I remember feeling shards of lust rip through me when i saw a Ferrari for the first time. That deep guttural growl. That sexy rumble that vibrates every being of your nerve. YES! YES! YES!

all this, from standing 1 foot away from one idling in a parking lot. wonder what it wud b like to actually ride one..hmmmm..

If: welcome! Ya, a Ferrari! I know. But i am a practical man who's known to lust after every Acura, Subaru Wrx Sti, the Lancer Evo and Mini Cooper S that pass me. Pocket rockets are far easier on the pocket than a fricking Ferrari and I can get over them much easier! lol

Guru: Pult man! How is he doing? And is this one of the same calibre as Pult's efforts? Wow ;)

Santosh: Nah, notice carefully. I am not talking about my crush ;)

Sriram: I am over the Ferraris and the Vipers da. See the beauty of a crush is that it develops into something else when its acheivable. So Ferraris are out of the equation ;) It's like ogling after Monroe when sight adichifying a Munniamma ;)

Raapi: Vandhutaaanya Vandhutaan!

Gabby: I know better. I learn from experiences. LOL!

Bharath: Thanx :) You got my point!

What happens when a Minivan hits on a Mini Cooper?

anantha said...

Gabby: The common minivan (vehiculum futbolus genetrix) would never hit on any other autombile. Ogle yes, but not flirt. Prime examples of the vehiculum futbolus genetrix family are always the object of attention of all the curvaceous kinds that you see on the road.
Oh btw, if I have to give a parallel scenario from the human world, older gentlemen usually never hit on younger women. It is usually the other way around, or so I have heard ;)
And you know what the target demographic of the minivan is?

I'm a car freak too.. Sometimes get a neck strain while driving looking out at all those wonderful cars outside... :-)

Anti, what did you have for lunch da? A bucket of coffee and a tub of candy? Your energy dazzles me :)

anantha said...

Gabby: It is ironical today cos I was was too lazy to get back home and eat lunch. So, am living on coffee so far.
But answering this question does not tire me regardless how many times I gotta answer it! And my energy never fails to dazzle people.
It is all becos I drank Complan properly everyday when i was young! I am a Complan Boy! :D

Leon: I hear ya :)

Visithra said...

Ahh well thats only before marriage, after the car once again becames wifey no1.

Err you have to be kidding me, older men don't hit on younger women??? Figured out what middle age crisis is??? ;p lol

J said...

wots come over all the bloggers these days???
why dont i have any major crushes to write about???
WAIT... i know whom to point a gun at *evil grin*

anantha said...

Visithra: Middle aged crisis? I wouldn't know anything about that! LOL

J: Whoa...You know its loaded right, the gun?
You DO have such things to write about, but your mind refuses to accept the fact. And btw, this is only semi-autobiographical. I mean, I saw a Acura that day. But neither am I a minivan, nor was I on one then..
